Senior Software Engineer, moving into Product Engineering
Short version: I've spent 10+ years building and shipping production systems — React, Next.js, and Node.js at the core, with real experience in Python, PHP, and mobile. I'm moving from pure engineering into Product Engineering: thinking about the product I'm building as a whole, not just the code that ships it.
What that looks like in practice
- Led SaaS platforms for e-commerce, hospitality, and education clients end-to-end, hitting 95+ Lighthouse scores and a 20% lift in client retention.
- Modernized a hotel group's mobile app (PhoneGap + PHP → React Native + Laravel), cutting crash rates by 40%.
- Mentored junior engineers and built Reacttiv, an on-demand React delivery team, raising delivery speed by 30%.
- Founded and still run XalapaCode, a developer community of 150+ people, 40+ workshops.
- Have also defined, built, launched, and sold products of my own end-to-end, without a team behind me. That's where the product judgment comes from — not from a certification.
What I take on
- Senior IC work — production-critical features, architecture decisions, the kind of work where "will this break?" is the first question, not an afterthought.
- Technical leadership on a scoped project — own a feature or system from definition to deploy, and explain the trade-offs in plain language along the way.
- Independent delivery — a self-contained system (booking, payments, admin panel — the pieces that replace spreadsheets and WhatsApp chaos) built and shipped by someone who's done it before, solo.
I don't do "just a website," and I don't do hourly. If it's not worth scoping and pricing clearly upfront, it's probably not worth building yet.
How I work
Correctness over speed. Readable code over clever code. I'd rather tell you something isn't ready than ship it broken. I say no to bad technical decisions, with reasons — and I document the ones I say yes to.
